David, others,
Good to see you pick up the challenge.
This would be a good time for others on this list to join. It's not
expensive (US$100), probably tax deductible and we need your vote!

Subject: Re: [australia] Australian representative?
Hi Marius and fellow list members,
As some of you may remember, Peter Meyer nominated at last year's elections
and narrowly missed appointment to the Board. Peter has decided not to stand
again this year. I agree with Marius that we should support an Australian
candidate and I will nominate myself for the position unless someone else in
the Australia community wishes to nominate - we should rally our support
behind a single candidate. Please send and email to the list ASAP if you
would like to nominate yourself so that we can come to some joint decision.
If I nominate, I am going to propose some dramatic changes to CM Pros.
(1) I believe 5 Board members is insufficient for all the portfolios within
an organisation that now has more than 1,000 members spread around the
world.
(2) I believe the current method of completely replacing the board every two
years does not offer suitable continuity and does not encourage driven and
passionate board members to commit for the long-term.
(3) I think that key infrastructure such as the website and email lists
should have been handled better, with more consultation and more member
input and have involved the same due diligence that we would expect client
organisations to follow in their selection of CMS.
(4) I am going to push for a change in the Charter for Regional Communities
to allow local branch infrastructure (website / mail-lists) as well as some
minor changes that will better allow us to run our meetings and this years
conference.
Please let me know if you have any other concerns or items that you would
like taken to the parent organisation.
We only have around 30 paid CM Pros members (out of 1000) in Australia, even
though we have over 160 mail list participants, so it will be an uphill
battle to win a seat on the Board. Nothing like a tough battle to start the
New Year.
Cheers and best wishes for 2007,
David Warwick

Hi All,
I notice that CMPros are are about to have an election and that nominations
are called for. It would be good to have an Australian on the board. James?
David?
