Marius,

Many thanks for the summary. The question I wanted to pose to the group was around the difference between analytics tools for intranets vs. internet sites. We have been using SiteCatalyst from Omniture and I wanted to gauge which other tools are being used and what people think of them.

My impression is that intranets need a different set of metrics to internet sites beyond the basics of number of visitors / downloads. Comments welcome.

  A good bunch of Sydneysiders turned up and enjoyed David's presentation.

  He started with a short version of his "Black Art of Web Design" presentation ( http://www.komodocms.com/baowp) and then demonstrated Google Analytics (previously known as Urchin). The Site Overlay view of click-through stats are a particularly useful feature of GA.

  David discussed PageRank and how to optimise it and finished up showing some sites/services which may be used to optimise a site from a usability/readability/accessibility perspective (David, did you want to post those URLs to the list?).

  Alternatively, if you or anyone else would like to have a play with it, send me your google account name  (gmail address) and I can let you log on to my GA account to have a "play". 

  Unfortunately, due to other commitments, the session was somewhat "foreshortened" so there is plenty of discussion material for another day (Wesite ROI, Google Adwords etc)
